The boks&baum Paris house is revolutionizing the world of haute couture jewelry.
It is in the heart of the 6th arrondissement, at the back of a beautiful, tree-lined courtyard steeped in history on rue de Sèvres, opposite Le Bon Marché and a stone’s throw from the Lutetia, that these little marvels are created: Sylvie Boksenbaum, the founder, settled there after years of travel and discoveries that inspired her.
The story began with the incompatibility of pure metal in classic jewelry with Sylvie’s skin.
She cannot wear metal without her skin reddening. She therefore decided to cover her long necklaces with cotton so she could wear them.
Having been introduced to crochet by her grandmother, she then had the idea of inventing an entire range of jewelry delicately wrapped in magnificent cotton, silk, and raffia threads.
She uses this technique for bracelets and necklaces, and can finally wear pieces without an allergic reaction.
It was in Brazil that she discovered the beauty and diversity of fine stones.
All her friends wanted a necklace, so she diversified her designs to please them, and then decided, while residing in Mexico in 2014, to launch her brand.
A first large, colorful necklace, very different from what was available at the time, was then offered!
She incorporates crystal beads (notably through a collaboration with Swarovski®) and fine stones.
A subtle blend of colors, textures, patterns, and different stones, and meticulous hand-crocheting.
Back in Paris, she experienced the lockdown during the 2020 pandemic in her apartment, ordered dozens of balls of yarn of all materials and colors, and developed a collection of crocheted handbags in 2 months.
All signed with a fine stone set with embroidery thread, the signature of the boks&baum house.
